Hey everyone,

I was looking at the release date for November 19, 2026, and it hit me—it’s been over 24 years since I first stepped into the shoes of Claude in GTA III.

I still remember the absolute awe of seeing Liberty City in 3D for the first time in 2002. I was rocking a Pentium 4 and a GeForce 3 Ti, feeling like I had the most powerful machine on the planet because I could actually see the rain reflections on the asphalt. Back then, “high-end” meant having 128MB of RAM. Now? That wouldn’t even load a single texture in the modern world. :sweat_smile:

Fast forward to today, and the scale of the evolution is mind-blowing. We’ve gone from blocky car models to a version of Vice City that looks indistinguishable from real life. But man, the “entry fee” for this evolution is getting steep. :chart_increasing:

I’ve been checking out this Ultimate GTA VI Build Guide and the reality check is real. We’re talking about hardware price surges and specs that make my old Pentium 4 look like a calculator. It’s making me wonder: Is now the time to pull the trigger on an upgrade before the “GTA Launch Fever” drives prices even higher?

I’m caught between two vibes:

  • The Old-School Builder (Left): There’s a certain magic to hand-selecting every part—the motherboard, the RTX 50-series card, the NVMe drives—just like the old days, even if it means a weekend of cable management stress. :hammer_and_wrench:
  • The Launch-Day Ready (Right): Given how complex these 2026 builds are getting (and how pricey the components have become), I’m actually considering a professionally built boutique rig this time. I want to spend launch day in Leonida, not troubleshooting a BIOS error. :desktop_computer::sparkles:

  1. What was your “GTA III” rig? Did you have a Pentium 4 beast, or were you struggling to run it on a Celeron?
  2. The Price Hike Discussion: With hardware prices on the rise, are you buying your “GTA VI Foundation” (Case, PSU, RAM) now, or are you waiting until the last minute?
  3. The 30-Year Jump: Does anyone else feel a bit of sticker shock seeing how much it costs to stay at the “Recommended Specs” these days compared to the early 2000s?
